Path 1

created in collaboration with Chip Gooding & programmer Sally Chase

PATH 1 was designed for Whitespec at Whitespace Gallery and created by Nicole LIvieratos in collaboration with Technical Director Chip Gooding and Programmer Sally Chase. Participants walk the path, stepping directly onto windows in the floor. Thumbprints and light guide the viewer to the next step on the path. Removal is a consequence of moving forward. The piece is a blend of contemplative travel and defined space within text from Emily Dickinson.

The artists laid the floor, with all wiring and equipment existing below or suspended above. PATH 1 was developed as a prototype; future paths will move outdoors with elegant triggering, multiple participants at one time, and a fully realized movement component. Stay tuned.
